Founded in 2014 by Jessica Ruhfus, Collabosaurus allows businesses to create effective partnerships with other businesses based on shared goals and strategy.
Using the Themosis framework for Wordpress, I took designs created by Made Together and turned them into a fully functional and responsive website. The Themosis framework allows for Wordpress development to follow closely to a MVC pattern, much like Laravel. Subscription payments are handled by Braintree’s API and transactional emails are delivered by Mandrill’s API.
Founded in 2012 by Hugh Minson & Richard Hordern-Gibbings, Nexus Notes is an online marketplace for students to buy and sell their study notes.
In 2014 I worked with a design agency, Made Together, to plan and develop Nexus Notes’ new responsive ecommerce website. To aide with development I opted to create the website with Wordpress and third-party ecommerce plugins. I created the entire theme from scratch and several custom plugins to allow for a lot of bespoke functionality.
Nexus Notes were admitted into Startmate 2015 and are currently seeking funding in California.
When Monsters Attack
Built in early 2014, When Monsters Attack is a portfolio for my personal illustrations.
The website is built using the Kirby CMS - a flat file PHP framework - and is fully responsive. A few CSS3 animations and jQuery functions were added to bring movement to the purposefully minimal design.
While working at Soap Creative in 2013 I was asked to design and code three single page apps to sit within Xbox’s Facebook page.
Each page focussed on three different campaigns being run by Soap; Capture the Poster where users could tag real Halo 4 posters located throughout Australia; Halo Ultimate where users could vote for their favourite Halo weapon, vehicle, armour, and enemy; and a pre-order page where people could learn more about Halo 4.
Let’s Go Somewhere
In late 2014 I developed a responsive Wordpress website for a pair of travel bloggers from their own design. I created several custom post types for accommodation and destination posts. The website also features a small store powered by the WooCommerce plugin.
While contracting at the With Collective in 2014, I developed a boilerplate using Backbone and SCSS which was taken and expanded into a responsive travel game for Adventure World.
In 2013 I took a UI Kit designed by 3 Winged Fly and developed a responsive Wordpress website for Nepenthe Wines, a South Australian vineyard.
I created a stockist locator which allows the user to search for stores stocking Nepenthe Wines. The user enters their post code in a search field and then given a list of results in ascending order of distance from the user.
While contracting at Droga 5 in 2013 I was responsible for designing the website for Woolworth’s Christmas campaign. The project involved taking an existing creative idea and adapting it to a website and collection of static banners.
I designed the entire site utilising a modular approach to increase production speed and consistency across the entire project. The individual elements were created in Photoshop and then assembled as a page in Illustrator.
Apple Online Store
In early 2011 I designed and built several campaign pages for Apple’s online store in Europe. The campaigns included Valentine’s Day and "Black Friday". I designed the pages in Photoshop and then built them directly into Apple’s proprietary CMS using HTML and CSS.
G’day from Sydney. My name is Thom and I’m a cross-disciplined designer & developer who makes things for the Internet. During my 10 years of industry experience I have worked on wide variety of projects with agencies, startups, and individuals.

"Thom is a legend. He developed my custom B2B platform and has been my greatest investment in business. Thom was extremely conscious of the end-goals of the platform, the importance of tweaks and bent over backwards numerous times to complete the project above and beyond expectations. He is very easy to deal with and a great project manager too - I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him for quality design and development. He knows his stuff!"
"Thom is both a fantastic designer and developer having taken our site from an idea to reality. He is very professional in his approach, a good communicator and a solid time manager who sets realistic expectations. I can’t recommend him highly enough."
"He’s a very personable fellow and his evident skill and expertise in the field of web design and development has made for an extremely smooth and successful working partnership. He consistently delivers outstanding work on time and, more often than not, exceeds client expectations with the results."
"He’s a bright, multi-talented and creative individual who was a pleasure to work with - both professionally and personally. His achievements included: playing a lead role in uniting our digital and design teams into a single creative resource; co-designing and single-handedly developed a multi award-winning social networking platform; making complex technical solutions comprehensible to non-savvy colleagues and clients."
"Thom was a great asset to Saatchi & Saatchi during his time there. Thom is a trustworthy, reliable worker, who follows direction well, can work independently, gets along well with colleagues and is very thoughtful and considerate of other staff. I found Thom to be a flexible developer who could manage both back and front-end development tasks competently."
